Stories from Happy Travelers

“I just came back from a Gobi Desert road trip with Golden Gobi Tours, booked directly through their hostel, and it was absolutely amazing! It felt more like an adventurous safari than a regular tour, such a great experience despite being low season, highly recommended! I wasn’t able to do the entire 2-week tour, but they made it possible for me to join the rest of the group for 9 days...”

“Took a 13 day trip with Golden Gobi to central Mongolia and Gobi desert. They helped us find more travelers to make a group together so it'd be more cheap and more fun. The driver Ishka was amazing! Very friendly - fatherly and kind, always made sure we have enough warm clothes, managed all of our equipment without asking any help, he even sewed our gloves when they ripped...”

Frequently Asked Questions

• May-September: Pleasant temperatures, ideal for tours and outdoor adventures • July: Time of the famous Naadam Festival • October-April: Very cold, but offers stunning winter landscapes
Yes, Mongolia is generally considered safe for travelers. As with any destination, basic precautions should be taken, especially in urban areas such as Ulaanbaatar.
Mongolia has an extreme continental climate with warm summers and very cold winters. Temperature differences between day and night can be significant. Mongolia's weather is characterized by extreme variability and short-term unpredictability in the summer. Long-term averages often mask significant differences in rainfall, the timing of frosts, and the frequency of harsh weather events such as blizzards and spring dust storms.
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Many European and several other countries can enter Mongolia visa-free for a limited period. It is always recommended to check with the Mongolian embassy or your local foreign office before traveling.
Layered clothing, sturdy walking shoes, sun protection, and a good camera are highly recommended. In remote areas, shopping options are limited, so it is best to come well prepared.
